The Second Round of the ASEAN-China FTA 3.0 Upgrade Negotiations was held on 10-12 April 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand, attended by officials from China, 10 ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretariat. The two sides started negotiations on various areas in Version 3.0 FTA in an all-round way, and discussed further openness and cooperation in the fields of digital economy, green economy, trade in goods, investment, competition and consumer protection, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures, and small and medium-sized enterprises, etc.

The negotiations on Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area were launched in November 2022, and the first round of negotiations was held online in February 2023. This round of negotiation is the first negotiation held on-site between the two sides. The two sides are committed to raising the level of openness on the economic and trade front, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in emerging areas, constantly enriching China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership and promoting common regional prosperity and development.
