On June 12, 2025, in Vientiane, Laos, the Socialisation of the ASEAN Tariff Finder was hosted by the ASEAN Secretariat with the support of the Aus4ASEAN Future Initiative.
The workshop was held in the framework of the 48th Meeting of the Coordinating Committee on the Implementation of the ATIGA (CCA) (CCA 48), with the participation of delegates from ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste working in the field of trade in goods.
Following the opening remarks by the CCA 48 Chair (representative of the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce) and a representative of the ASEAN Secretariat, there were three presentations made by guest speakers. Mr. Kolja Mendel, representing Mendel Verlag GmbH & Co. KG, introduced an overview of the ASEAN Tariff Finder, including its purpose, background, key features and functions, information available, and how to use the platform. Mr. Ravi Chakkara Kunki Raman, representing the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry of Malaysia, provided the government's perspective on the ASEAN Tariff Finder, including the benefits gained from using this platform and best practices in socializing the ASEAN Tariff Finder to the stakeholders. Mr. Royce Escolar, representing the Aus4ASEAN Future, presented the survey assessment on ASEAN Tariff Finder utilisation. Then, the participants actively engaged in the Q&A session with the guest speakers.
The ASEAN Tariff Finder was launched during the 55th ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting (AEM) and related meetings, held from August 17 to 22, 2023, in Semarang, Indonesia. The ASEAN Tariff Finder is an online information portal providing information on customs duties, taxes, additional taxes, rules of origin, and import regulations of more than 160 countries worldwide. Since the launch of the ASEAN Tariff Finder, the Multilateral Trade Policy Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam) has conducted presentations at dissemination seminars for businesses to introduce this portal.
