The ASEAN Trade Facilitation Joint Consultative Committee (ATF-JCC) is an annual meeting of ASEAN to discuss initiatives to enhance trade facilitation, and to review and address issues related to non-tariff measures (NTMs) within the ASEAN framework and is chaired by the Chair of ASEAN Senior Economic Official Meeting.
The ATF-JCC also serves as a focal point to enhance regional cooperation through the promotion, coordination and cooperation on policies, recommendations, action plans and implementation of trade facilitation mechanisms. The main objectives of the ATF-JCC agenda are to reduce trade transaction costs and increase time efficiency, while ensuring effective implementation of trade policies in ASEAN.
Held in early 2025, one of the main agendas of the 31th ATF-JCC is to discuss and agree on the ATFJCC's annual priorities for 2025. In addition, in the context of ASEAN developing the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan for 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045, the ATF-JCC is expected to discuss specific strategic activities of the Plan under the ATF-JCC’s purview.
Regarding the agendas related to non-tariff measures, the the ASEAN Secretariat will update the ASEAN Member States on the status of notifications of NTM measures by ASEAN Member States since the last meeting. The Committee will focus on discussing the difficulties encountered in relation to NTMs that some ASEAN countries are applying, to ensure that these NTMs do not create unnecessary barriers to trade in the region. In addition, the Committee will also discuss a number of cooperative activities to enhance capacity on trade facilitation in the coming time.
