According to the "World Economic Outlook Update" report released in October 2022 by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Indonesia's GDP is forecast to lead the way in the ASEAN region, reaching 1.290 billion USD. Following Indonesia is Thailand with a GDP of 534.76 billion USD.
Along with that, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines are forecasted to have a GDP of $434.06 billion, 423.63 billion USD, $413.81 billion, and $401.66 billion respectively. Thus, the size of Vietnam's GDP in 2022, according to the IMF's forecast, ranks fifth in the ASEAN region.
According to the Asian Development Outlook Update (ADO) 2022 released by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in September 2022, ADB maintains its growth forecast for Vietnam at 6.5% in 2022 and 6.7% in 2023, as announced in July 2022.
In addition, ADB forecasts that the growth of the Philippines is equivalent to that of Vietnam, reaching 6.5%, leading the GDP growth in 2022 in ASEAN. After the Philippines and Vietnam are Malaysia with a GDP growth forecast of 6%, ranking third in the region.
At the same time, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Brunei, and Myanmar have GDP growth forecasts of 5.4% respectively; 5.3%; 3.7%, 2.9%; 2.5%; 2.2%, and 2%.
With these growth forecasts, Indonesia is the country with the largest GDP in the region, reaching 1.212 billion USD. Thailand has the second largest GDP with 562.06 billion USD. Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore respectively ranked 3rd, 4th, and 5th with a GDP scale of 410.81 billion USD; $393.38 billion, and $392.66 billion. Vietnam ranked 6th with a GDP of 391.92 billion USD according to ADB's forecast.
According to the report "ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook in 2022" of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) published in October 2022, Vietnam's economic growth is forecast to reach 7%. in 2022, ranking 2nd in ASEAN.
