As part of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting Week on July 11, the ASEAN+1 Foreign Ministers’ Meetings with the United Kingdom and the European Union (EU), along with the 15th East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son led the Vietnamese delegation to the meetings.

At the meetings, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized the importance of economic cooperation in key areas under the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, including digital transformation, green transition, infrastructure development and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

At the ASEAN - UK Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in innovation, SME development and building an inclusive digital economy. ASEAN appreciated the UK’s support programs such as the Digital Innovation Partnership and the UK-Southeast Asia Tech Week, as well as green finance commitments that contribute to the region’s sustainable transition.

At the ASEAN - EU Meeting, both sides reaffirmed the need to deepen economic integration and regional connectivity. The EU remains one of ASEAN’s leading trade and investment partners. The two delegations are working to enhance cooperation in digital transformation, green and sustainable economic development, and continue efforts toward building a future ASEAN - EU regional FTA.

At the EAS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, countries agreed to promote cooperation in trade, supply chains, digital economy, green growth, and circular economy to strengthen the region’s economic resilience.
