On March 29, 2022 in London, UK, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh and H.E. Penny Mordaunt, Secretary of State, UK Department of International Trade co-chaired the first session of the Trade Committee k of the Free Trade Agreement between Viet Nam and the United Kingdom (UKVFTA). Participating in the meeting on the Vietnamese side were representatives of the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Finance, Agriculture and Rural Development, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Natural Resources and Environment and Health. On the UK side, MP Graham Stuart, Trade Envoy of the British Prime Minister in charge of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia also attended along with relevant UK ministries.

At the meeting, the two sides highly appreciated the results of the implementation of UKVFTA in more than 1 year since the Agreement came into force, and emphasized the importance of UKVFTA to the positive growth of bilateral trade in the recent period. time despite the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The two sides also discussed many issues related to the implementation of the UKVFTA Agreement, such as unifying the Regulation on the operation of the Trade Commission, the roadmap for selecting and appointing a list of arbitrators, as well as discussing other issues. bilateral trade issues of interest to both sides. The session also spent time listening to reports from specialized committees including the SPS Committee, the Customs Committee, the Trade in Goods Committee and the Trade and Sustainable Development Committee.
In addition, the two sides discussed orientations and measures to be taken to promote the effective implementation of UKVFTA in the coming time in order to help businesses of the two countries take advantage of the opportunities brought by this Agreement, including: close coordination in dissemination activities, technical support, information sharing...
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh and H.E. Penny Mordaunt signed the Rules of Procudure of the Trade Committee to create a formal framework for the Committee to effectively operate its functions under the Agreement.
