On April 28, 2026, the ASEAN+3 Policy Dialogue and Economic Review was held online, co-chaired by the Philippines and Japan, with the participation of representatives from the financial and monetary authorities of 13 member economies. Viet Nam delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Quoc Phuong, participated virtually.

The Meeting focused on reviewing the region's economic and financial situation in the context of a global environment that continues to harbor numerous risks. Discussions included the impact of inflation, geopolitical instability, supply chain disruptions, and climate change-related factors on the macroeconomic stability of member countries. Based on this, the parties exchanged views on the need to strengthen policy coordination to enhance the region's resilience to external shocks.
At the Meeting, the Vietnamese representative updated on several key domestic policy directions, including the coordinated implementation of flexible fiscal and monetary tools, such as extending and adjusting certain fuel-related tax policies, accelerating the progress of key energy infrastructure projects, and reforming administrative procedures to support production and business activities. At the same time, Viet Nam also proposed strengthening regional financial cooperation tools, including considering the development of recovery support mechanisms, enhancing emergency response capabilities, and further refining the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation.
The dialogue was held within the framework of implementing ASEAN+3 cooperation programs, including the ASEAN+3 Cooperation Work Plan 2023–2027 and the ASEAN+3 Economic Work Program (ECWP 2025–2026). The discussions at the Dialogue contributed to maintaining mechanisms for information sharing and policy coordination among member countries, in the context of continued regional and global economic volatility./.
