At the 19th ASEAN-India Economic Ministers' Consultation held on 16 September 2022 in Cambodia, the ASEAN Economic Ministers and India adopted the Scoping Paper for the AITIGA review and agreed to activate the AITIGA Joint Committee (JC) to carry out the process, in order to address implementation issues as well as review the AITIGA towards a more effective, simpler, user-friendly agreement that is more trade facilitative for businesses and is relevant to current global trade practices. 8 sub-committees have been established under the AITIGA Joint Committee to conduct negotiations on various areas related to the Agreement. Currently, India and ASEAN are aiming to substantially conclude the AITIGA review in 2025.
